The Deeper 33, pattern 32: The site was built for approval from colleagues, not recognition from clients.

Was your site written for colleagues, not clients?

How do I write therapy website copy clients understand?

Peer-safe copy sounds impressive in consultation groups and empty to someone crying in the bathroom searching on a phone. Clients need plain recognition of their pain, not theoretical orientation lectures. Write for the person about to click Contact, not the supervisor you imagine judging your site.

Colleague voice on public pages

Bios lead with modalities and supervisors clients do not recognize.

Homepages quote psychodynamic jargon without translating what it means for their week.

FAQs explain clinical terms instead of answering will this help my kid sleep.

Conversion cost of peer performance

Clients assume you are not for people like them if they cannot understand the copy.

Parents and partners need simple language; they are often stressed, not studying psychology.

Referrers may respect the training but still cannot repeat who to send.

Plain language still ranks

Search queries are conversational. Jargon headings miss long-tail questions clients type.

FAQ schema with plain Q&A pairs matches how people ask voice assistants for help finding therapy.

You can layer clinical depth lower on the page for readers who want it.

Test copy with non-clinicians

Ask a friend outside the field to retell who you help after ten seconds on the homepage.

Replace acronyms on first mention or move them to a modalities section.

Read aloud; if it sounds like a conference panel, rewrite for the search moment.
